First things first: I'm approaching this from the point of view of a Director/Producer, not a DP, so my lighting/gaffing knowledge is going to be limited.
I'm going to be independantly producing a low budget short thriller this summer, to be shot on the HVX200 with the Redrock and (most likely) a set of fast Nikon primes. After smashing my head into a wall every time the budget inflates (which is usually every time I stop to really do the math, lol) I've come to this juncture: how much light do I really need to light this sucker? 95% of it is all interiors in a large suburban house, with a mixture of day (sunlight through windows type stuff), night (motivated lighting by practicals), and night stuff where the power is fluctuating/out (moonlit through windows.) I'm running down to the wire on my budget, and I need to figure out how to do this creatively. I was really hoping to get away with replacing all the practicals with higher wattage bulbs, bringing in a bunch of Kino's, a few 650's, 1k's, 5k's (for outside the windows.) Am I being unrealistic? Do I need the bigger boys, like 10k's, bigger even? This is my first production of this magnitude, so I apologize for my naivity. Oh, just off hand, if I do need to bring on much bigger lights, can anybody give me a rough, ballpark figure on what a generator would cost to power those things? An avg. daily rate you guys are usually used to seeing would be fine, as I said, I'm just trying to ballpark this. Thanks guys, very much appreciated.
Brian
P.S. I apologize again if this falls under the wrong forum, but as I've seen here plenty of you folks have had a good deal of experience with 35mm adapters, so I figured this was a great place to start :)
