So I'm in the process of moving and buying furniture. I need a new editing desk, something which can handle two monitors, printer, scanner, deck, etc. Does anyone have any recommendations? What are people using?

I'm not looking for an ergonomic expensive space age desk, just something that can handle all the junk and that's economical.

Thanks brethren.

Jerker desk series from Ikea. *The BOMB.

Computer table with shelf, 130. Add on shelf, 30, swivel monitor/printer stands, 10 each. *My desk is pretty fat IMHO.

Holds 2 computers, 2 keyboards, 2 mice with ease. 2 Printers as well, space for books, programs, scanners, blah blah blah. The cabinet on the side (forget what it was specifically) holds all my blank media, books of photos and negatives, etc.

have you tried custom building your own desk? I'm building me one right now to custom suit my needs. I estimate its going to cost me around $180 total with a super glossy finished. I'll put my my design if your intrested..

Blue,

I'm interested in your design. I hadn't thought of building one myself, but I'd consider giving it a shot.

The Jerker desk from Ikea looks interesting. I'm thinking about something longer and more spacious, but the Jerker does a good job of conserving space.

If you have the room for it, a corner desk is really nice. You'll have space for your moniters, printer, pop cans, whatever. I built my own a while ago, and it works great. See my post on "show off your edit station" for layout ideas.
