Hi everyone,

I know that there's a function in the p2 camera that's DVCPRO. Does that mean that I can shoot in HDV or something like that? besides recording in the p2 cards but HD?

no, DVCproHD only.

but just to be absolutely clear, (and Timur, don't take offense) you can record any of these to P2 cards:
DV (a.k.a. DV25), DVCPro, DVCPro50, and DVCPro HD (a.k.a. DVCPro100).

Ultimately, there is no way HDV can be recorded to a P2 card within the HVX.

Just trying to be absolutely clear. Hope it helps.

Also, DVCProHD is HD. It's not the same format as HDV, but it is definitely HD.

Thank you guys for your help. I appreciate it. Just another thing, what is the consumption rate of shooting in the different formats? like 720p24 is 30min/16g , 1080i is 16min/16g, how bout DVCPRO ??min/16g?

Hi,

The easiest thing to do is go to Panasonic's website (http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=93120&catGroupId=34401&surfModel=AG-HVX200&displayTab=S) and download the manual and see all the data rates for all the frame rates.

I'd post a direct link, but it is in Java script. :Drogar-Dolar(DBG):

You'll find a lot of other useful information, too.

Why would you want to shoot in HDV? It's quality is not really considered HD its more compressed and you have to deal with GOP which can be a real issue when editing

nono, it certianly is HD. HD just refers to exactly what its name refers to high definiton.

Any resolution above essentialy 480i/P is HD, up to 1080x 1920

From what I've read, Timur is absolutely right. (He knows a boat-load more than I do). If you have a camera that records in HDV, the biggest problem you may encounter MIGHT be during editing, and that would be most likely to happen when using an older NLE.
