When a mfx has been copied to a harddrive folder, what software will play it back? Loading Premiere just to view is a pain.....

You can use the P2 viewer that Panasonic provides.

Mfx files in a folder on a hard drive, not reading from a p2 card directly....

Yes, there is an option to create a virtual P2 card by navigating to your hard drive folder. The menu Tool|Setting Virtual P2 Cards. You must have copied over the whole CONTENTS folder and the LASTCLIP.TXT file to the same folder.
