View Full Version : How to photograph motorbikes?
I'm looking at doing some photos of a mates sportsbike and also a fellas new Harley. Does anyone have any links to webpages on the matter? Any tips? I'm guessing you have to diffuse the hell out of the light, especially for a Harley with all the chrome.

I dont have any links but the shoots I've seen either use softboxes larger than the bike or mulitple lights behind a sheet of diffusion on a frame larger than the bike. So yeah some rather large amounts of diffusion. Are you going to be outside using natual light or strobes? Or inside with Strobes?
I did a little shooting with some bikes. Nothing special, only used natural light - but maybe you get some inspiration. :)

I'd forgotten about these - awesome work PT!
Nice work PT, #s 13, 15, 18 were my favorites. Some nice cc there. Do you have a pic of #2 w/o the dude?
Any tips?
I did read up a bit on lighting for reflective objects (more for the harley).

Thanks.
No, I donīt have another pic of #2.
Tips... well it was my first time and it wasnīt organised at all. I just shot around. Maybe thatīs good.^^
edit: Do this thing where you lie on the ground and have the bike driving next to you. I think thatīs really cool.
I don't have health insurance.
but maybe you have a driver that you can trust. ;) besides he doesnīt have to go fast at all.

Very true. Tripods and remote shutters can be a nice thing too though :) Post back what you come up with TMNT I'm interested in seeing these.
