Hello fellow DIY'ers. I am looking for the quarter inch part on the bottom of a camera that you screw your baseplate onto. Does anyone know where I get one of these or know what they are called? I am using a portable dvd player as a monitor and I would like to mount it with one of those. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Chris

you could buy a 1/4 20 tap and make the threads in any plate that mounts to the lcd. I would suggest at least a 1/4" thick aluminum.

Thanks for the comments, I'm looking for the plate part that is molded into the camera permanently. Yeah I thought about doing the tap thing, I think I might have a quarter inch tap already. Where would I get 1/4" thick aluminum?

Just epoxy a nut onto your DVD player.

Oh yeah. I'm thinking maybe you need to actually mount the baseplate to the DVD? Just use a hex bolt if your baseplate screw isn't long enough. Put it in a vise & file away a little metal under the head until it fits like the original screw [without falling out].

I figured out a way to get it to work. I just epoxyed a L bracket to my DVD player and driilled a whole in the bracket so I can mount that to my adustable mount. (mini-tripod). I will have to post pictures.
