LOL! haha believe me this was the most hesitant i've ever been about anything.
i also strap it down with one of those ratchet straps , and bunji cord it up and managed to shake the whole car with the mount. it turned out a lot safer than i thought it would.
but i realize i want to buy one of these gizmos

I just built a decent car mount...I ordered one of the gripper suction cups from film tools, and grabbed a low profile leveling head from Willy's Widgets. It works great for my HVX/Brevis flip combo while shooting on the hood of the car.
Ive got a couple other suction cups as well to attach lights to and safety rig the camera.
I'm also working on a sidemount using the same suction cups and speed rail.

I just cropped this out of a wider shot, but you can get the idea.
This is a 10'' vacuum cup, willy's widget's mini tilt head, and a 50 buck tripod slide plate.

I have't tested it going really fast, but with my HVX/Brevis flip combo its stable at 30 MPH with a little shake on a rough road.
I also have two other vacuum cups that I use to safety the camera to as well as for mouning lights. The other two cups also double for a side mount rig.

I made this one using a bike rack, I finally had a shoot with it, so I had my friend snap some shots of the car and the rig. The second photo is a rig that we had on hand....
