This little girl has very dark brown eyes. Is there a good way to bring that out? I didn't "photoshop" these except to crop for posting.

Thanks Dan. I am open to a lot more critique though .. lighting, composition, etc.

:)

Just want to learn is all .......

I am loving the remote flash. Lot's to learn there for sure.

The beauty of a remote flash is this.

When on a sunny day, put the sun behind the subject, then use the remots flash from a 3/4 on the side to provide a "key" light and a VERY diffused on camera flash for fill. This way you get three point lighting out doors, and if you put the remote on a short rod, you can ge tthe flash out there pretty far.

Thanks TimurCivan. I will be trying that this weekend. I'll try to get a result of me following your advice up soon. Being wireless, I can put the remote flash on a tripod and play with just about any distance plus it's intensity is adjustable. It's this one: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11028992

This video clip is a guy talking about the A900 (now known to release in August this year) and it's full frame sensor. Mentions some nice lenses coming with it.

Larry

p.s. If a mod would not mind, could you change the title of this thread to simply reflect the Sony Alpha cameras instead of specifically the A700; similar to what you did with the Nikon and Canon threads? I started it when I got my A700 so that is what I went with ...

Some great shots there Larry. Love the pano and the second "crevice".

On another note: how long was the trip off of that mushroom? I haven't had shrooms in years, but that one looked mighty tasty:Drogar-Love(DBG)::Drogar-Smoke(DBG):

Thanks Ryan ... Most of those Hocking Hills photos were quite a challenge with so much bright sunlight and all the hard shadows in the rocks. It is a very heavily wooded area with, obviously, a lot of big rocks and caves. I'm trying to stretch my abilities here to learn.

I have no idea if that 'shroom is edible for any reason.

Nice shots Larry, The first one I think would look very good at dusk or twilight especially if the lights were on, i get tingles just thinking about it. not to downplay your excellent take on it, I just think it could be a total knockout if the lighting was right...Nice job:)

I just wanted to make sure all of you Sony Alpha (A700) users were aware of the v.4 firmware update that is now available. It does some very nice things for anything auto with flash as well as it allows turning off noise reduction in the 3200 and 6400 ISO ranges (was auto on with them). Also the choice to select auto exposure bracketing with 3 shots in 2 EV steps instead of just .3, .5 and .7; has been added.

Larry, wondering where all the users of this fine piece of equipment are hiding

p.s. Hey Dan, I'll fix the one where the seam is visible but I figured out why it's there even though I don't understand why it's there. I merged those two photos in their RAW format. Since then I've done merges as I've always done before from jpg's. They don't have the seam showing. Anyone know what's up with that?

I waited for a cold, still, clear night to take this shot. It is about a mile from a Sunoco oil refinery. The steam and smoke came out looking almost like fire but in reality, they are bright, white billowy plumes. The exposure though is 15 seconds ... f9; iso 200. So of course the plumes turned into streaks and the white turned into reflection of all the lights below. I still thought it was interesting though. I didn't notice a lot of photographers out at 11:30PM @ 17 degrees (-8C for you Canadian friends ;) ).
