Hvx Firewire port issues

Perhaps this is old news, but I just ran accross this item. A friend of mine said he just paid close to $ 400 bucks to repair the firewire port on his camera.
Here is an option, especially if you use the firewire port .
I appoligize if this is old news, I was not aware of this device...

Anybody have a review of this product ??

I put it on my firewire cable and haven't taken it off since.

Filmat, I had the same problem with my setup I even burned my Firewire connection. Had to pay around $379 to fix it. (ouch) Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Well it may have been old news to some, but I hadn't come across it before. This will ease my mind when using dvrack.... just placed my order. Thanks for posting filmat11 and thanks Luis for thinking this up.

I have a major event I need my HVX for and now my firewire port is gone. Where did you guys get it repaired? Was it at a Panasonic Service Center?
