One must love twitter for covering shows. This one is from Mike Seymour.
The panel is Tangent Waves, a very cool addition to a Apple Color station.

Well that's getting closer to what I've been hoping to see.
What we really need is to get some more competition in that market - as of now it's really only Tangent and JL cooper that are making "affordable" surfaces for Color.
And that's if you stretch the definition of affordable.

Nice. I saw this announced the other day, but no price point. Unfortunately I've read that Color currently can only interact w/ethernet-based control panels, but hopefully USB (which is what the Wave uses) will be added in an update.

DOH!
Well, who would this be aimed at then?
I don't know of many low budget coloring suites.

My thoughts too. I'm hoping Tangent knows something we don't know about a soon-to-be-released Color update.
Here is a link on Tangent's site showing where one can demo their panels and there are a few Waves on there, but none of them are being demo'd w/Color.

Looks like its mainly being used on Scratch.
Makes sense I suppose - a lot of RED users have been using Scratch for their post.
But that's a far cry from the affordability of Color.

is this some where demoing on the nab trade show floor?

Yeah... it does list OSX as a compatible plataform, and FCP. But you're right, the only option is ethernet based ones. Hopefully apple will update Color for it. Motion can work with MIDI keyboards, i don't know how tangent is talking to the OS but i guess this must be it.
The least expensive one that i know of, apart from this new panel, is the one from JL Cooper at 7.000 bucks. That's still a lot cheaper than the tangent's classic ones. There's a nice review at http://www.fini.tv/articles/eclipse_review_1.html by Patrick Inhofer. He has a nice blog for all things Color at http://www.fini.tv/blog/finishing_line.php
Could someone at NAB ask about Color compatibility?

If you follow my link a couple of posts up it lists a number of booths where you can demo it.

I'll second that.
I'd love to hear from someone who is there 'in the trenches'

Can't you just tell me? I went to the link, there's no mention of booths at NAB. So, I clicked on Partners and there's a ton of them, but no mention of who is at nab with a demo

Adam Wilt has wrote on PVC that it costs only 1k, and it was supposed to be a field panel for high-end suites.
Come on Apple, give us the possibility :)

Thanks Louis! I appreciated that. On the floor I was able to bring this up on my iPhone and find my way to one of these booths.

Ask Apple to include support for this cool new control surface in the next revision of Color:

If you've ever used a decent control surface while CC, you'd know.
you can SIMULTANEOUSLY bring down the blacks while keeping the overall brightness the same with a different wheel.
It rocks.
