I have a potential gig that would require me to broadcast live over the internet but I have no clue how. It would be a private (intranet) viewing for a beer companies head office - anyone here that can help guide me?

You'll need streaming software, an encoder and a way to put that on the Intranet. Most people choose to put the streaming server software on a separate box due to resources demands. Note that streaming live video (if you stream audio along with it the tehcnical term is "media") is bandwidth intensive.
You'll need a way to get the video/audio to the streaming server; if this is a fairly static setup a wired connection would be fine; if mobile, then you'll need a transmitter/receiver arrangement.
If the company you'll be doing this for uses Microsoft Windows 2003, Windows Media Server is included and Windows Media Encoder is free as a download from the Microsoft web site. Other solutions include Adobe Streaming Server 3 plus its encoder for $995.
Hope this helps.
