I was just wondering if one could delete P2 files off of a card with a Mac. I noticed my normal drag to trash option is no longer viable with the new firmware. I saw that you can use PC programs to do it, but I was wondering if there is a Mac solution.

Why would you want to? It's much more reliable to simply format the card in the camera.... Besides, you never EVER want to hook up your P2 to a Mac without it being write protected!

You can now format the cards from the Mac. Download the latest Mac drivers that include the Mac Format utility.

Ive read this alot in the past week since I received my camera. What does it mean to "write protect" your card? Simply Just backing the file up, or is it something different?

There's a little switch/tab on the card itself...switching it will write protect the P2 (or unprotect it, depending on how it's switched) - kinda like with old 3.5" floppies.

I'm having trouble deleting the actual P2 files from my Mac, i.e. I did my first few "test" shots and dragged them to my desktop in a file called "My 1st P2". Now that I want to delete the flubbed shots, I find I can't because it's a bird's nest of locked files (on my hard drive, not the p2 card), and when I try to drag to trash, it won't let me delete because the folder contains "locked" files. Can anyone help!? thanks!

Hold the option key down when selecting "empty trash."

Barry: Will those updates work on a PowerBook? (You know, the ones that actually have the right slot)...

The P2 format utility is great. Imagine shooting non-stop for 3 hours with only 3 16GB cards...Can't format in cam...Use the nifty utility!
