I'm planning to shoot an industrial in 720p/24pN and will be downconverting the footage in the HVX to DV so that my client can use the footage for another project. That project will be cut on an AVID Adrenaline and my client wants to be able to intercut the DV footage with archival footage that was shot and imported at 60i. I'm not familiar enough with AVID to know whether this is possible. If it is, how would we do it?

Some expert advice would be very much appreciated.

Avid won't have a problem editing the 720/24pn down-converted to tape since they will both have an interlaced pulldown.

If you want to keep everything HD, use this workflow
Export a quicktime movie of the 720/24pn footage and take that to sorenson squeeze. Compress that to a Quicktime movie 1080i at about 20,000kbps, and then import that quicktime into your 1080i project

Thanks, Eric. So if I understand you correctly, AVID can mix footage shot at 24p and 60i in the same timeline?

If you downconvert the 24pn to tape inside the camera, then, it is now 60i, but will keep the 24p look

Got it! Thanks. This stuff can be confusing if you haven't done it before.
