this is a P2 into FCP question.
If recording 720 24pn and in FCI I select DVCPROHD 720 for set up, I import straight from my camera am I getting the true 720 24pn native format or is it switched to 720 60p?
I was told that was happening because the native does not transfer from the camera via firewire.
It was suggested that i copy the information from the P2 cards onto the computer and then import into FCP to get the true 720 24pn Native...
Please shed light if that is true...
Thanks

I have not transferred footage by firewire, but I do know that bringing 720pN stuff from a P2 card into FCP is 24p, there is no pulldown. Choose FCP sequence preset 720p24.

The issue with shooting in pn native mode is that the video signal will not use firewire while shooting live.

I don't think that will keep you from using the camera as a P2 card reader...Log and Transfer while the camera is in MCR mode and set to 1394DEVICE.

Indywannabe is exactly right.

Using the camera as a card reader is perfectly fine and will get you an exact copy of the data on your P2 cards - regardless of whether you shot native or not.
I do it with FCS2 all the time - no issues.
