Ok, back to the original post. hehehehehehe
iTunes and Firefox hog valuable resources. Installer beware.
Firefox: 33.5mb RAM
IE: 21mb
iTunes: 65mb
Winamp: 11mb
Anyone else have this problem?
interesting.
Just goes to show how different the programs are written for each system.
on my mac at least.. iTunes never moves above 35MB of memory... but for some unfathomable reason it uses 194MB of virtual mem...
firefox is also really really snappy on the mac...
I always thought that the performance of iTunes on a PC really really sucked.. GUI wise..

:D
As I was saying; (cough cough) PK >:( ;D
My IE is taking up 12 MB; DVX loads in less than 2 seconds on a dumped cache. I'm not in the modd to DL FIrefox and don't see a reason to.

Yeah, I've never had any problems with IE, and it works great for me, so I see no reason to switch over to a different browser (although from what I have seen/done with FireFox, I do like it.)
And as for iTunes, it just can't compare to WinAmp... I mean, c'mon; It really whips the Llama's ass! (Perhaps iTunes is the proverbial "Llama..." Or perhaps I've been drinking again...)

Just found this, I was looking for a tool for firefox to save flash animations and found a speed optimizer for firefox. It's free.

As far as saving flash animations, try going to Tools > Page Info > Media and finding the flash you want to save

Thanks Isaac! Also make sure you go to Tools>Extensions and download Mouse Gestures 1.0, ForecastFox (if you like weather info), Image Zoom, and Tabbrowser Preferences 1.2.2.
The Prefs one fixes the issue of links not opening up in the same window. The weather is pretty neat. Mouse Gestures (be sure to study the prefs) offers a new browsing experience. I go to IE and I'm like, "oh, i have to CLICK something."
Memory issue? No big deal to me.

hrmm, my Firefox never goes above 22mb while IE hits 26mb. I've never really woried about this too much as I have plenty of ram. Just seems odd that browsers have been around for years and they haven't stripped down the amount of resources they require.

I no longer user IE because of all the hacking problems with it. But, when I was running both I would see both run up big numbers. It depended on what you were doing, how long you had the program running (without closing it), if plugins had been loaded, etc...
Haven't used WinAmp so I can't comment.
Also, the issue of resource hogging doesn't hit me since I have 2gigs of memory. :')
Oh, and you are shutting those apps down when you are doing heavy video editing/rendering? Right? ;)

When I edit I've got nothing else open but Premiere or After Effects. I use my laptop for Internet browsing or music.
