Red trademarked the Scarlet 3k on feb 29.
They also have these 2 other trademarks filed.
Red Head - tripod head
Red Play - 4K Optical disc player

And that's if we're lucky. Leave it up to those guys to wait until the last day to unveil.

All these seem more relevant than the 2k, 3k debate.
Panavision Genesis is 1920x1080p. And is practically impossible to differentiate from film on the big screen. And that's less than 2k.

The Genesis is also not a single sensor bayer pattern.

The Genesis is also not a single sensor bayer pattern.
Bayer means that whatever you think the number is, just multiply it by about .75. So Red's "2k" mode delivers a little more than 720P's worth of actual resolution, and the "3K" mode delivers a usable 2K, and the 4K mode delivers a usable 3K. The Genesis probably about matches Red's "3K mode" performance.
Scarlet may be 2K, it may be 3K, it may be 4K (we'll find out Monday). None of the registration trademarks means much of anything until they verify the details; they may be throwing us (and the competition) off the tracks. Personally I think the one that's most interesting was "REDRAY". If that means that they're making their own 4K alternative to the suckfest that is "blu-ray", then Jim Jannard has truly seized the title of "Leader Of The Rebellion." (yes, I know that was Ted's title, but -- I mean, what else can you call it? That's a true rebellion.)

Not here either... proud RED owner.
Monday should be pretty amazing in their booth regardless of what hype Scarlet lives or doesn't live up to.

according to Jim
It will not be a shirt pocket camera.
It will look different than you imagined.
It will be all metal, no plastic.
We will not take reservations for it... it will not be for sale at the show.
It will weigh more than any pocket consumer camera.
It will record REDCODE RAW (duh).
This cam is looking more promising by the day. I really hope for shoulder mounted sized cine cam that would break me free from using 35mm adapter.

Someone asked him if it was a DSLR and he said that it was a motion capture camera.
motion capture camera? huh? What does that have to do with the lens type?

"We actually trademarked Scarlet HD, Half K, 1K, 2K, 3K, 4K, 5K, 6K and 10K to make sure we had all the bases covered. I guess several of them haven't shown up yet."
From Jim Jannard, lol I love "Half K"
