Does anyone know when Panasonic announces pricing for their products? Is it normally long before their release or is it usually very close to the release? I'm debating between buying a DVX100b in the next week or so or waiting until the price is announced for the HMC150, if it will be in the near future.

Thanks a lot!

Well, we'll know on Monday whether they announced the price or not. I suspect they will. We already know that it's likely to be much less expensive than the HVX, and current speculation is that it'll probably be between $3500 and $4000. But that's just speculation.

Where did you get that info from? The only thing official I saw was the press release that said "The HMC150 will be available this fall at a suggested list price under $4,500"

So I am hoping it is as Barry suggested, between $3500-$4000.

I don't expect a "real" price to be announced until way closer to the delivery time. Everyone here is complaining about the state of the dollar and how that's affecting pricing.

What's with this article stating a $6000.00 price tag?

Got my eye on this camera but not for 6k

The article is clearly, plainly, and unquestionably wrong. Panasonic themselves have announced that the price will be "under $4500". I'm choosing to interpret that as it having a $3995 MSRP and will cling to that until proven otherwise.

Amen on that and not have a downcoded hard to work with (at the moment) format.

It still makes me laugh that people don't get that Scarlet and the likes of an HPX 150/170 are aimed at two different markets and it is not an apples to apples comparable.

That makes no sense at all since they just scraped their design and are starting over. I wouldn't expect to see a Scarlett for atleast a year, or probably more. They do what they want and change their mind.. and in the meantime, you could shoot with the HMC and have that baby paid for. Waiting just seems like a fools game...

The post you responded to was from July. At that time MAYBE the Scarlet was a viable option but the HMC is certainly making it look like vaporware at the moment... :Drogar-Love(DBG):

Like about $2500.00?

Because the lowest I've seen or heard about is right about $3150.00.

$3273 shipped is the price I got from my rep Ryan Davis at Full Compass. I haven't seen it actually ship for any lower. I did see one vendor publish a $3195 price but then when I inquired I was given a $3475 price. Hmm.....

Anyone interested in an HMC150 for $3273 can call Ryan Davis at 800-356-5844

I have learned that vendors have only a select few cameras that Panasonic will allow to be sold down to the $3200 price.

After these units have sold, then the $3495 price would be the standard.

Might be wrong, but explains why the pricing seems to vary.

shrigg, great to hear. I'm calling Full Compass now. I wonder if they ship to Canada. We have it here for $3999.99 + taxes, which equals around $4600.00 CDN. If I can even save a few hundred and pay custom fees, by going with Full Compass that'd be great.

Well, that's odd. I just spoke with somebody at Compass Xpress (because that's where I got transferred) and they said there was a ship date of December and a price tag of $3970.00 USD and that there were no orders/pre-orders. Did I maybe get a misinformed agent?

Thanks,

Kegan

You are 100% right.

When called AValive that's what they told me because I thought it was "too good to be true" also when I pre-ordered a few weeks back they only had two 150's left so I got one. They told me that after the last one sold at the lower price, they would go up to $3495 but they would offer other deals like the free 8 gig SD card and free shipping.
I didn't get free shipping or a free SD card with mine but the price they gave me took care of that!

FedEx will make me happy on the 10-2-2008!!!:Drogar-Love(DBG):

Yep all orders and pre orders placed today shipped today and yes we had an early bird special for those lucky enough to order in August and Early Sept and they got a great price.
We currently have a couple 150's and 170's left . The 150 is discounted with free ground shipping
Thanks all !

We have some left in stock and we ship to Canada.

Please let me know if you have any questions. The web store usually has a problem with Canadian postal codes so if you would like to try that's fine and if it doesn't go through, you may give me a call and we can get the order processed for you.

Thanks a lot Andrew. I checked out your web store, but will likely be calling in to submit my order. Have you any idea what the average customs/duty charges work out to be shipping to Canada? I assume (read: I hope) that some buyers in Canada have given feedback regarding that.

I have a pending sale on my XH-A1 and once that absolutely clears I will give you a call and let you know.

Thanks again,

Kegan

EDIT: What is a cover lens? Is it the same as a lens cover? If so, does the HMC150 NOT come with a lens cover?

Hello Kegan,

Jasmine is the best person to talk to about Canadian shipments. The Cover Lens is a really cool product. Here is the webstore link.

The rep to ask for at Full Compass is Ryan Davis (800-356-5844, extension 1194, or hit 0 and ask for him)
Tell him I referred you and I guarantee smooth sailing

Edit: For those that were having problems getting through: 608-831-7330 is the number I usually called, then asked for Ryan.
