1. The HVX is in 720/25P (pal) and the P2 viewer says VIDEO CODEC DV100 720/50p.
a) is not supposed to be the same 25P?
b) is not supposed to be DVCPROHD Codec?

2. It says FRAME RATE 50P but its supposed to be 25P....

WTF!!!!!!

I don't shoot in Pal, but I'm fairly sure that is accurate. You're shooting in a mode that retains all 50 frames, but in post it will drop it to 25. This allows you to alter the speed of the clip upon import in post.

If you want to only shoot 25 frames per second, losing all the other frames shoot 720p25pN

The N stands for native, and it makes sure you only shoot 25 fps. That means no speed changes, but more data per card.

DV100 is DVCPROHD.

720 25p and 720 25pn are both the same resolution, but because of the way the 720p standard works it normally always records 50/60fps depending on what your camera is set too.

However because panasonic are smart and didnt think we were always going to need 50 frames they added the 25pNative mode which only records 25 frames.

So if you dont need the extra frames (for possible slow mo effect) then shoot 720 25pn.
