I'm trying to put together a short video I shot against a green screen with an animation I did with a dragon. I exported the animation as sequence TIFF files. When I import the files they come in as 180 individual files at 1 frame. I am trying to import them as a single footage file. The Import As Sequence box is grayed out, so is the Import As; Footage box. I don't want to go through and position each single frame to properly see the animation, so any thoughts as to what I need to do would be appreciated.

Put the TIFF files in it's own folder.

In AE:

File - Import - Import Files
Select the first TIFF file, it should be labeled "name.01.tif" to the end of the sequence "name.60.tif"

Import as Footage, select the check box that says TIFF Sequence, and click open.

Tada, you have the image sequence. Make sure the files are labeled correctly.

Man, I've been banging my head for a few hours trying to figure this out. I know all about what you're saying as I have it all set up like you said. Only when I choose the first file, all the options such as Footage and TIFF Sequence are grayed out. Wait a minute, I think I figured it out. (time out to check something...)

Man, I can't believe it. Duh!!! As it urns out, the first file was named Drag000.tif, which wasn't getting me what I wanted when importing so I went and choose Drag001.tif and blam, it all fell into place. I didn't realize that I had to start with 001 instead of 000 in the sequence. Just goes to show you, sometimes it's just the little things...

Thanks for your help in joggling my head to find the answer.
