I wonder... is dying spelled correctly?

Perhaps your story is of one who impresses, shapes, or cuts with a die?

Thanks to dictionary.com for that one.

Haha,

Dang if that's the only mistake I make during this fest I will consider myself very lucky.

Anyways, thanks guys for the warm welcome and good luck to you all for your films!

Haha, I have a feeling that this is going to haunt me for the entire fest.

Hey Zak, for some reason I really like that comment. I'm going to put that thought into the back of my mind... maybe an idea for the next fest?

PS...

I updated the top with new crew members!

Edward Cork - Update

Well, everything is set to go. The preproduction meeting went very smoothly. We are shooting at the end of this month on the 27th, 30th, and 31st. I'll be doing minor b-roll shooting the next few Fridays but I am aiming at the final edit around the 3rd.

Looking forward to working on this film ;-)

Herman, it has been too long since I visited your site and I took the time with my morning coffee today. I just wanted to express my renewed admiration for your talents and energy. You truly are an inspiration. If I can risk being maudlin, I was reminded of this quotation from Herman Hesse:

“Most people are like a falling leaf that drifts and turns in the air, flutters, and falls to the ground. But a few others are like stars which travel one defined path: no wind reaches them, they have within themselves their guide and path.”

You always seem to have incredible focus and drive and I know you have inspired many of us. I do hope you'll be willing to work with us on a future project some day soon and I will be anxious to collect the marvelous tracks that you're going to be producing for this festival.

That's very beautiful. Thanks for sharing that, Mark. For me, Hesse is one of the finest writers of the first half of the 20th century.

Aww man I would love to edit someone else's narrative. How is that going to work out? You gonna send him hard copies? Ftp the files? How are you going to give notes/suggestions? Why aren't you editing it yourself? Anyways good luck.

A little update.

Well, it's been way over due for me to update this thread So here goes...

Bad News First...

1) I had guy I met in class become my other half on this production. He seemed to be really into the script and the whole Timefest thing so he and I teamed up. Flash forward to the first week classes end for the semester and the dude completely disappears on me. And what's worse he had 3 key props, a location in which half the film was to be shot in, and a minor role actress... (This sound familiar to anyone else? Haha)

2) I bought two pieces of equipment for my rig for this fest with plenty of time for it to be delivered, upwards of 2 months and both are MIA. One was a 7 inch monitor and the other was a follow focus...

3) And finally, because shooting has been pushed back, and back, and back, it was decided it was better to get a local editor to save time from getting the footage to Canada and back.

Enough of the bad, here's the good...

1) I was able to very quickly alter the missing props, acquire a new location, and got a new actress to fill the empty role and all under 2 weeks time.

2) Also, all principle photography is complete! I have it in Final Cut and should have the cuts locked down by tomorrow and then it's off to get scored.

3) Grabs have been added to the front page.

Hey,

That was another location that went... Since this is considered a "personal project" my school wouldn't let my crew film in the airliner interior the aviation department has...

That would be my only problem with the school is the red time students face sometimes when filming on campus but I also know that it's due to insurance reasons and safely concerns so I know they are not heartless.

When I take the 16mm class this fall that location will be used then for something....

UPDATE

The edit is complete I believe. Now just have to work on color and sound...
