for "running" a red light. I was making a right turn at a red light and I thought I stopped, but I guess it wasn't a COMPLETE stop. I wish cops would focus on fighting crime and keeping the peace rather than nitpicking and giving innocent people traffic tickets. Now I have to delay the court date because it just so happens to fall on the date I leave for NYC. I'm fuming :kali:

Hey - I got a ticket this morning, too! California rolling stop! Mine was at a stop sign as opposed to a light.

I got a ticket in Beverly Hills for running a red light a while back, it was mailed to me, one of those cameras mounted on the traffic light. Big Brother. I hate that.

between fighting crime (which is expensive) they need to write tickets to drivers to pay for the crime fighting.

'Hollywood Stop'

In dense areas, they can make millions from em.

i guess taxpayer money isn't enough. I'm trying to start my business here, the last thing I need is some $300 ticket for slowing down to 1mph before turning. Such BS I'm still mad. :(

Some how I doubt the cop that ticketed you got pulled off a major case to go babysit an intersection.

Anyway, what's so hard about coming to a complete stop at a red light?

doesn't the ticket state the amount of the fine?

Try and go to traffic school to keep it from knocking your insurance. You can do online trafffic school.

In California, they mail you the fine after the ticket is written (at least in my city). I'm figuring between $150 and $200. Speeding ranges from $300 and up. But I can do Traffic School and not have it affect my insurance. Man, it's a weird feeling to hear the siren and look in your rear view mirror and see that the cop car is behind you this time. Speaking of weird...I was stopped by 2 cops one night walking down the street after a party in Santa Monica. I found myself looking down the barrel of one of their hand guns. Oddly enough, as I think back on that from my college days, I think it was a revolver - kinda odd. I guess he thought he was a cowboy. Anyway, after I just about peed my pants, they laughed and drove away. Yeah, real funny.

That sucks, I got flashed at a red light camera and the ticket never came, same thing happened to my mom a few weeks later. I think the cameras where not working or something.
I have a friend that got cought by the red light camera and was like $450 or some crazy amount.

you know I am gonna give you my .0002 based on life experince, ok...
I am 26 now but around the age of 17-22 I learned my lesson pretty hard and I realized that I wasted a lot of my parents money on tickets, I swear to you I probably got around 15-20 speeding tickets in my short life, then I realized one day after my parents always got me out of it that all I had to do was not break any rules and the police will never and I mean never pull you over unless there is a roadblock or something, but the point that I am trying to make here is that I have gone almost 5 years without getting pulled over I knock on wood, so I know you are pissed, I know I was, back in the day, but remember that if you are in a rush and get pulled over for whetever reason, that money may be coming from your parents (which was my situation) or it may be coming from yourself but I know for a fact that you have a better use for that money then to give it to the police department for getting pulled over, thats what I think

plus tickets hit you in your driving reconrd and your insurance policy goes up for sure, so its a bunch of negatives and no positives from a ticket

How could you not? All that keeping of the peace and saving of lives and enforcement of the rule of law...It's just despicable.

The best thing to try which works here in the city is postpone the court date 3-4 times and then go. The cops here make specific court dates during the month to sit there all day taking care of tickets. Postponing a few times will hopefully make the date fall on a day the cop isn't there and the ticket gets dismissed. The last time I postponed a few times which made it months after the ticket and the cop was actually there but he had changed his log book since the ticket and he had no notes on the stop so he asked for a new date which was refused. The judge said he should have been ready and dismissed the ticket. Having a clean record helped in this situation.

I grew up around too many of these guys. They all have the same personality profile (Generally speaking).

They can save all the lives they want, doesn't mean I have to like them. :undecided
