Adjustment layer

Hi

My comp in AE consists of close to a 100 different layers that encompass the entire film. I want to use an Adjustment layer to apply certain effects to a whole scene at once, but since all my layers are in the same comp it will effect all of the scenes down the line.

Can I cut certain layers to a different comp, apply the adjustment layer, and then bring them back to the main comp?

You could precomp a group of layers and then apply the adjusment layer to the precomp.

or

You could apply an adjustment layer and trim the adjustment layer to the length of the scene that you're adjusting. Then apply a new adjustment layer for next scene, again trim the in and out of the adj layer to match the scene. Rinse and repeat.

or

You could apply the effect to the individual layers.

The best solution is the one that works for your particular project.
