I fly, been flying for onwards of 20 years now.

Fell off a sound stage once, but I've grown to like the voices, they're quite soothing.
I'm old.
I don't know if I'm a virgin.
I had four gold teeth, but there was a hole in my pocket, so they're gone now.
I have a cat, if you pull his tail he lights up.

The voices say I've told you enough.

Run a production company with my best friend, doing basically any kind of contract work you can think of in our small Seattle-area community
music videos, weddings (only 1 so far, but it paid good, so we're open for more ;D), lots of skate/snowboarding vids, local projects, CGI, compositing, audio, finishing, mastering, and so on and so forth...

We also make a lot of stuff for fun...

I waste my time playing copious amounts of soccer, and I'm also trying to gain 50 lbs (hang in there fellas... we'll get there some day). :D

Cool TC! I do most of the artwork for DW Anim theatrical and home video releases. I did most of the Shrek and Shrek 2 posters. My handywork on both DVD covers, and I just finished nearly 20 different posters for Madagascar. We didn't get to work on Shark Tale though. Not sure why.

I'm seeing green from all the Shrek stuff though. And I hear they're already writing Shrek 4 (yes 4, not 3, 4)

antOmic- That's very cool! The only thing I can think of, to explain why you didn't get Shark's Tale is that Shrek, Shrek 2 and Madagascar are all made up where I am (in Redwood city) and Shark's Tale was made down south in Glendale.

I don't know why that would matter, but apparently it does.

Well, I'm in LA (Glendale area) too, so it doesnt matter. It's all about the studios and who greased the palms first. Plus, I believe Shark's Tale was Dreamworks without the help of PDI and Shrek and Mad are a combined effort. Again, that has no bearing on whether we get the contract or not. Just politics.

Alright, stand guard and protect my mortgage payment soldier!

Everybody seems to be including their marital status, so...

Single with no children (Ladies ... ;) ;) )

I'm "That guy" you see at the clubs and I have hidden the obvious fact from myself that I have lost 3/4 of my hair with a stylish pony tail. Along with that, an unbuttoned, ultra shinny silk shirt and pants that are way too tight I am positive that "I'm sexy and chicks dig me"

I spend a great deal of my time trolling supermarkets for unhappy, lonely, sexually frustrated housewives. I find the produce section the best but have scored the occasional gem at the deli section.

The vanity plate on my car reads "82 Vette" because it's clearly the only way for someone to know what I'm driving when they see me in my car.

Basically I'm what I like to refer to as "A single successful guy" 8)

Saint of a wife of 10 years and 2 boys... something is on the way any minute (as of today we're at 38 and 4 (if you've been here you know what that means.))

Sure -- I've done some other things with editing and shooting skills I've developed, but I hardly ever take any money for it.

In real life I'm an officer in the greatest Air and Space power in the world, The United States Air Force. *I conduct bands all over the country (not yet world) for presidents and kings... and moms and pops too.

Best/worst moment in my career... standing over a grave at Arlington National Cemetery conducting Beautiful Saviour when it was 25 degrees and snowing and it was the Band, the Honor Guard, the Chaplain and one family member. *I couldn't help myself -- I was crying my eyes out. *I've done HUNDREDS of funerals, but that one just hit me hard.

Hey -- I just found out I'm "in the zone" for the next Major board.

So here start the (non interesting) enumeration !!

- A girlfriend (we are only looking for couples not single men !! just kinding we're not swingers) (I've always though than there is a great movie (a thriller) to do with swinger couples)
- I registered the 11th july 2004 and I was so busy until now that i'm still not a dvx owner (time to confession). Just graduated from a master in C.S. Now the time is back and I hope to get a 'baby' asap and if possible the juan's mod if it's not a vaporware.

-I made the Nyfa couple of years ago and 2 (16 mm) short movies saw the life. It was very interesting. I liked this 6 weeks heaven period. He makes me feeling, I was more interesting by making movies than software. If it was to restart, I'll keep the money and buy a camera and learn by doing... But, all experiences are good.

In fact, when I rethink to the whole process, I had been always interesting in making movies. I've done some vhs bullshit when I was a teen and wrote some "obscur" scripts never shot.

I lost the hope to be a filmmaker a lot of times but Shane Carruth gave me the faith back. Thanks to him.

And, I want to give me a try to do a feature. After, I'll be liberate from my obsession and will work as a brainless bee until the retirement and the grave. Time fly and I don't know, if I'll have the luck to make this movie.

I found this site because I was looking for a camera and at this time (july '04)
the progressive mode and DV was still unknow to me. Once the progressive mode discovered, I understood it could be a wonderful tool (the lethal weapon) to achieve my goal without living in the fear of underexpose my kodak 200T and overexplosed my budget.

I found that people on this site was nice and not necessary against french people because they were french... I've to add that even without a dvx, I learn a lot.

That's all folks. End of my confession. Now, I hope to purchase a dvx asap and do a first post in the 'Screen Grabs / Clips of DVX footage section'...

26. i make a living now as a previsualization artist/supervisor.....its basicly 3d animated storyboards for feature films and commercials. been doing that for almost 4 years. i started out as a sculptor in new york, and picked up carpentry and metal work along the way. i started doing that professionally when i was 16. got a work study thing going on in high school and was able to get out of school everyday at noon and go to work making cool shit for broadway/vegas shows and theme parks. moved out to los angeles when i was 20 and worked for a few set shops and for walt disney imagineering, where they taught a few of us 3d animation...anyway, got sick of sculpting and fabricating...so i made the jump and got right into doing previz work for a living.

anyway, been messin around with video for about 2 years or so....and have started to more agressivly go at it for about 6 months...

so there you go.... :D

peace out!

Elvis, i've probably shot more indy productions than you've ever heard of (trust me, you didn't miss much), the usual problem is in the budget.

But yes, I've shot Indy projects, commercials, series TV, major film work, even some local TV stuff.....us Steadicam types are pretty "loose" types.

I'm 23, a few months out of college. Majored in computer science at the U. Maryland - College Park the last 5 some years. Got started in film summer 2002:

2002 summer - (NYFA's 1 month program) made my first 16mm black and white short film (its a kungfu action short - can be found on my website, 'enter the savior'). thought the experience was amazing although stressful.

2002 fall - came back to school and life resumed being ruined by computer science.

2004 - finally graduate, bought the dvx camera in october, and been trying to make up for lost time by pursuing film full time.

been learning Softimage XSI and After Effects the past few months. currently waiting for film grad school to get back to me...not sure if i want to go even if I do get in. (USC, UCLA, AFI, and FSU)

in other things, I did taekwondo for about 10 some years, did gymnastics for 1 year in college (didnt get very far), and have been doing websites and Flash for years...

Have lived a few different lives, doing a few different things: painting, sculpture, installation art, graphic design, video, etc.

Worked as an art director in NYC for a number of years, then moved to Chicago for God knows what reason. For the past three years I've been freelancing doing graphic design, scenic design, motion graphics, video editing, DVD authoring, you name it.

A few months back I purchased some video equipment and started working on a documentary, and I've been slowly getting together with writers and actors to work on narrative projects.

I got very lucky with a contact there. The work was openly bidded locally there. The local production houses were terrible and my bid was less than half of the cheapest one there. That opened a door. I paid my own ticket there.

They were happy with my work and I returned there for three months. This time I was paid reasonably well. It was a great experience. Tiring work, three films in four months my first time there. And four projects my last trip there. I like to work fast.

That was inspiring, especially when i read film festival. I like the way your setting up early goals, instead of this becoming a bunch of video people getting together and jerking off & bull shitting, I got dibs on lead male =)

This is Lebroz James... (Just a taste)

I'm a rapper from Brooklyn New York, born 'n' raised. I was on the Z100 radio station in 04' (Clear-channels big station in NY) Song is pizzaria and you can check it out here...

I went to college for computer programming, I'm a web designer. HTTP://www.lebroz.com chek itt outtt. Also a security guard (N.Y. State licensed) and wash dish's.

In the past year I taught myself how to edit and took my music and intellect & turned it into a t.v. show that you can watch from anywhere with a decent Internet connection...
HTTP://show.lebroz.com/ 2 times a week and also local in Manhattan New York and Brooklyn New York.

I started acting in 04' was a comedian on and off from 2002 up to now. My t.v. show has a lot in it from politics to music and sports. A little dirty (jus a lil) no nudity.

My main goal is getting a fucking record deal and to start dominating the hip hop scene, these record labels and movie studios just do not want to give a fat sexy white rapper/actor a chance to dance on the big screen with all the fly ladies..

Hope to greet & meet ya'll soon
Some girls got big titties, some girls got them small, when it comes to girls Hey... I'm a lonely guy I want them all...

Hi,

My name is Brian and I'm 21 years old.
I was born in Indiana, I now live in Texas.
I work mostly as a sound mixer on television/digital cinema shoots. No film, but lots of HD.
The rest of the time I operate a small enterprise that resells liquidated items on eBay.
I currently have not worked since February of this year and have been enjoying the spoils
of my labor from previous months which included a show on CMT, a documentary, and a
dramatic narrative movie. Did some post sound work on the narrative movie.
Traveled to South Padre Island, New Orleans, and Las Vegas this year so far...
I went to Hong Kong and China a couple of years ago.
I try to stay current on technology since I have practically nothing else to do at the moment.
My interest in the DVX100a camera is to shoot documentary stuff, I guess. I don't really know.
Trying to study cinematography on the shoots I work on as a sound man.. The sound mixer
gig is more like an excuse to get a free education in cinematography, I think.
I recently moved into a much more spacious apartment yesterday and am considering my
options to furnish at the moment. May just keep things simple cause I like it that way.
I'm on a Mac and don't really see the point to using a Windows computer anymore.
I'm definitely what you would call a "night owl"
I think I'm now finished writing this... Maybe we should re-ignite this thread, huh?

Discovered that getting into animation directing was way easier than getting into live action directing. Did that. Good projects and god awful ones.
Got representation in L.A., moved here, got back into live action.
Work as a writer and director. Working on getting a feature off the ground (like every other sentient being in L.A.).
The future may be bright, but the present is pretty damn good. Anybody can make a movie these days. Big change from the way it was. Never been a better time to be an artist - in the history of the world. Yay!

Male, 34, married with three kids - all pretty cute most of the time. Born in NorCal, raised in the OC and currently living in the NC, which is quite different from the OC in almost every way. My father sold Amway for a bit and had people like Buckminster Fuller over for dinner to build tiny pyramids over the fruit bowl on the dinner table. Skated before anyone (okay, there were twelve of us) knew what that was, rode bikes to the Wedge and played Star Wars to excess.

Worked various forgettable and thankless jobs during high school and convinced myself (and my idiot best friend) that investing every dime we earned in Arriflex cameras and Mole Richardson lights was a good idea. Turned out our first paying commercial for a local building contractor at age eighteen.

First job out of high-school was at Post Group, then did a long stint in corporate AV. Met some presidents and the such during this time, learned tons more about lighting, audio and video. About this time, my high school girlfriend of three years moved to UC Davis, briefly becoming a lesbian. Not knowing exactly how to process this, I became beligerent and difficult to deal with - even in the absence of controlled substances.

Lived in the City of San Francisco (still straight, just a change of venue) for a long time playing a swinging stagehand bachelor before my cat and I met my lovely and understanding wife. Worked on some features and television in audio and carpentry and grip.

Never could stomach lighting on a real show - those damn cables are too heavy. Left IATSE one month before getting my card to take a GM position for AVHQ San Francisco, where I installed my 2-group espresso machine and effectively drank cappuccino all day long with my pals.

Shot my first documentary in 2002 and decided to do another one last year to follow our own exploits as we drove Land Rovers from Texas to Guatemala (far).

Had the DVX100a since August, and don't miss "little PD" (our Sony PD150) one bit.

Two Jack Russell Terriers share our home and keep us laughing. They focus on hunting, sleeping and being generally neurotic. Lost our beloved replacement cat, Paco, this past weekend to a car just one block away from the house.

Though he died doing what he loved most - killing tiny spring bunnies, squirrels and robins - we will miss him very much.

You know, that old chestnut.

CaptM man that's a moment i could see so clear although sad that is poetry Capt. that should be filmed. my father passed away last year they had an honor guard as we passed by them they were old men hunched over barely could stand rather funny from afar, but i felt so proud and these veterans were there to honor my father whom they never met. they folded the flag up with feeble hands rather clumsly compared to the real honor guards, but for me and my family, there were no better men than they. the one man saluted and then got down on one knee in front of my mom and presenting the carefully folded flag he said to my mom with tears in his eyes, he had just found out that my dad was a POW in nazi germany like himself and insisted on being the one to personally hand the flag to my mom. he then stood up straight and saluted with tears streaming down his cheeks.....man that was a moment............................................ ..........................

That's funny...I started a smart-genre script about a year ago called Superstion Mountain. About two miles from my house is a hike that leads up into the mountains and a series of sacred pools running down the hillside surrounded by huge rock formations and hieroglyphs from thousands of years ago. Pretty cool stuff. The script is based on some make-believe superstitions about these pools.

I broke from my production company Big Brain Pictures and now am on my own, so I think that my old, old company name is out and I'm going to be switching after years to Superstition Entertainment. Seeing that I live at the base of the Superstitions it has a couple of meanings.

Best,

I used to wait tables...then I quit in Feb. 05 and started doing video for a living. It's been quite a ride so far and it's taken me as far as Hawaii. I haven't missed the restaurant business at all. :)

I want to direct music videos. I'm still learning a lot about directing, but it's really awesome to have a vision and see it come to life.

OK why not this thread is OLD:

age: 34
Sex: lots
Children: one angel - almost 2
Background: Masters in business - banking and finance. Worked in senior positions in the industry across Australia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and India ...... grew tired of putting people out of work. In the midst wrote a script that won an award, thought thats petty cool..... picked up a camera, thought thats pretty cool, started doing bits and pieces, thought that pretty cool. Got married to Japanese girl(so much work in Asia was bound to happen), thought thats pretty cool, having a baby.... she wants to be near her family during this time.. OK... came to Japan ... meet some people... try this bummer.. try that.. make some contacts... things getting better..... doing stuff thats not entirely my dream...got some$ from my previous life.... means to an end... shooting a feature in pre production as we speak.
Half Irish, half Austrian.. pure Australian.

Director/Editor
No wife, no kids, no gf right now.

Have plans for several shorts and docs that will keep me busy. I'm working on a video roundup of the best NYC Pizzerias. I've seen a few short ones, but this will be the definitive one. Also working on a fencing DVD (the swords variety, not the type that keep dogs in backyards).

Looking to work with motivated, talented people. Have hooked up with several great people from right here on a several of their projects and one of my own and they were great experiences. Anyone else who needs a hand on a shoot send me a pm and we can meet.

freshman at UCSC and I work at a local art-house theater.
But as you know I have a burning passion for filmmaking and I am a writer/director and DP, and exceptional editing skills on FCP.
I too am single but definitely in the market for a girlfriend...but I am about to enter college, I will hopefully be surrounded by scores of beautiful co-eds.

I'm always filming shorts, trying to do one good one a month. And I am writing a feature.

cheers.

I direct music videos. Been doing video one way or another for over 10 years. YES I had Premiere 10 years ago, when you needed an A/V input in the back of your power PC mac. I've had two video in the last year make international major networks including: MTV2, MTVLatin, MUN2, Telemundo, Kerrang TV (UK) etc. I don't know what i'd do if i wasn't creative. I am happily addicted to DVXuser because my good friend SINK told me about this great place! Just want to say everyone in here is great...Got some great feedback and learned alot from what people say (even though i havent reached my 100 post yet!). I READ alot but dont neccesarily post.

I come from a creative family and growing up, creativity was encouraged.

Down the line, i hope to get into doing commercials, feature films...
