I posted this on another section of this board, by mistake....

Found this link on the internet, perfect for the dvx100, but I don't know if it's good for bigger cameras like my Canon XL2, well...I hope it helps...

This has been mentioned before I think, looks similar to the poor man's steadicam to me,

I would not want to mount a camera worth a few grand on a little piece of pvc..

I know a guy that built one of those. he was shooting in a factory and the pvc broke his dvx hit the concrete floor. i would never try something like that not worth it.
Also it is not professional to show up to a shoot with that.

I built one. I'd rather shoot handheld. Only kind of simple diy stabilization that's worthwhile is a shoulder rig.

it is not a DIY steadicam, all you are doing is adding more weight to change the rigs inertia. I.e. your arms and body will absorb more of the jerky motion rather than a light camera. But yes, it does act as a stabilizer, but not steadicam.
