I have AE 7.0

Ok, here's another potentially retarded question...

I have text and a few objects (photos) - all in 3D layers;

All the objects and text have the same material properties (ie - Accepts and Casts shadows, accepts lights) but for some reason the text isn't casting a shadow on my solid object layer, but everything else is?! They are all placed in roughly the same 'z' coordinates in front of the solid, but the text is being odd man out, can someone help me?

One more semi related question, The text (black) is moving over a black & white photo - how can I have the text become lighter only in the areas that are passing over the dark parts of the photo?

Thanks guys.

Is the text being generated in After Effects? Try making the text in something like Photoshop, and see if that helps. Photoshop text is treated more like an object than like actual text from After Effects.

One way to make the text lighter as is passes over the photo is to set the texts blending mode to Difference or Exclusion. Or, create two text layers one light and one dark and put a mask over the part of the photo you want the text to be lighter in, having the darker text on top and the one being masked to "reveal" the lighter underneath.

Or, you could use the text itself as a track matte with a solid layer the lighness you want.

And where can we find your Hero's fan film apart from iFilm. Do you have a direct link?

Oh and yes the text is being generated in AE, does AE not like it's own text?

1. Make sure cast AND accept layer is enabled, and that Draft3D is off.

2. Transfer modes
