Okay, so I created a solid layer (3d layer on), I have a photo (3d layer on) in the comp that I want to cast a shadow onto the solid layer. I have added a new light (spot) to do just that... for some reason the light isn't doing anything!

I have turned on 'casts shadows' on the light, 'accepts' and 'casts' shadows on my other objects, and still nothing... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've done this before, but for some reason this time is different. Thanks for any help,

The only thing I can think of is to check the "Shadow Darkness" under "Light Options" in the Light's properties

That was the only thing that I saw which could cause a problem

Just double checking - have you added a camera to your comp?

Shadow darkness is 100% and yes there is a camera... for the life of me I can't figure this out, it's strange yet probably something retarded, like myself... lol

firstly, you aren't retarded. secondly what version of After Effects are you using. if it's 7, send me the project file and I'll take a peek.

Ya it's 7.0. How do you want me to send it?

Found out what the problem is, I had the Draft 3D button engaged. Now I know leave that button alone.
Thanks guys.
