Hey Guys,

I've been playing around with some of the EX footage I shot, and I've been trying to get some 50fps footage that I shot to play at 25fps - but it doesn't want to.

I've tried setting my sequence as both XDCAM EX 720p25 and ProRes 422 720p25, but when I drop my 50fps footage into the timeline it simply plays at 50fps.

Have I missed something here? Why won't the footage slow down?

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you shoot 720p 50fps or the way it should be done with 720p 25fps and then enable slow motion and choose desired framarate? Check EX1 manual page 61.

The option you are looking for is called S&Q in the menu (Slow and Quick). The 720p50 framerate is designed to be played back at 50 fps, not 25. That doesn't mean that you can't slow it down by using the retiming options in your editor.

The drawback of 720p50 is that it squeezes more data (ie 50 fps) into the 35 mbps stream, so it is more compressed than 720p25, S&Q framerate set to 50, in which the resulting footage will be 25 fps in your 35 mbps stream. On the other hand, if you are not worried about the quality, it uses up your cards at half the rate, so it might be a consideration if storage is an issue.
