Here are pics of my Jib crane.
It is adjustable from a short 6ft to 20 foot as seen in the pictures
I guess I have to write a few more posts to be able to upload the pics

Very neat, I have built my own crane at 20ft long, its about the same size, and it weighs quite a lot which makes me wonder how that fairly small tripod you are using can handle the weight of your camera rig...
I see you are using the varizoom head, I went the DIY route and built my own remote head. How do you find the varizoom?

It not really very heavy all Aluminum Tubing the tripod would handle a older studio camera and is quite sturdy. The head is by Camera Turret and is quite good. The controls are well made and very smooth. I did built my own Zoom Focus control using a inexpesive Ebay controller and put it in int's own box and used heaveir switches.
I am in the process of building a different turret using fluid power devices and use of a control simular to the head of a tripod You tilt up and pan left and right and the camera follows the movment. No joy stick to control the camera and no power needed. It is half built but since it's been cold this winter it is hard to get out the garage and finish the controls.

Well here is the secret It is a telescoptic flag Pole goes from 6feet to 25 feet. I do not have any plan right now but I may draw them up and put them on here. I will post the paticular mfg for the pole as they had the heavier tubing over the other and cost was around $200.00
I am doing a festival tomorrow with it.

It is not all that heavy the main boom is 30 lbs approx the tripod is very robust and I have used the same tripod with a Hitachi studio camera and lens that weighs a lot more.
Actualy it is a Camera Turet head not bad but I did build a different head that is on here and is totaly fluid. it has a better feel to it and more like a tripod head action.
I have some video on youtube using it during a parade

Weather is getting warmer and now to do some mods to this crane. Anyone interested in building one the cost was about 200 usd mainly for the flag pole Yes a telescoping flag pole is the main tube the only thing is at the fulcum you have to use a collar and not have a pin go through as this would prevent any telescoping of the tubes.

If you look at the Flag pole MFG site you will see various ways to use the Pole One use I see is to have an elevated pole cam usings a tilt head and a base one can use it to get above the crowd to get the important shot

What an awesome set up! Just checked the flag pole mfg. site and they have the 20' on sale for $139.00 instead of 200+. I Sure wish I could talk you into putting together the plans for building the rig! Anyway, thanks for sharing the resource! I am going to order one and try to figure out how to make this thing happen. Building stuff is not one of my strong points. Too much Right brain dominant.
