How do you type Frech accents with text tool?

I am trying to input a French Man's name (Rene Magritte) and I can't for the life of me find how to put the accent above the 2nd e in Rene with the text tool. Can anyone help me, is there even a way? I tried searching in the After Effects help, couldn't find it there. I am using AE 7.0.

I'm not sure if you can put accents on letters directly in AE but I usually type the character in Ms Word and then paste it into the text in AE

Yes AE supports text with accènts. If the font supports it so will the application. Its a system level item, so unlikely to be part of a specific application's help menu. All operating systems have utilities to allow you to lookup and even copy and paste characters you don't know the key stroke combination for. ie. on PC its called Character Map and is found in accessories under the System Tool menu.
