From the title of this subject, I thought I was gonna see video of soon-to-be-daddy, Kyle... sitting, waiting, and wishing. :D

Nice! That clip was encoded as a Flash FLV file, and then imported into Flash and encased in the Media Playback component, which is basically a player skin. You can access the controls by scrolling the mouse over the bottom of the player.
The file size is 10.2MB, which is pretty good considering FLV format is based on an H.263 codec.
So how do they make his mouth move "forward" along with the song lyrics while everything else is going backward?

My guess is he memorized how to sing the song backwards and performed it that way. You can see he's a bit off in parts. Hard to do, no doubt.
PS: Terry, i'm waiting and tearing my hair out!!! Hurry up already!!!!! :)

No really, I'm not joking, they just played the song backwards, figured out what the words would be like backwards and then filmed everything with the song playing backwards.
It is a very well done video. Was that only one take, I'll have to watch it again.

Unless they pulled off some brilliant compositing and edits, it looked like one shot.

Saw this on TV the other day. It is VERY impressive. Not only to be all backwards, but all one shot. I'd like to know how many practice runs they did. ...It looks like his mouth is digitized at some points (when you watch it on TV the quality is better and it's more noticeable). If he sang it backwards the guy deserves a video award just for that. WOW! Thanks Kai.

That was extra extra cool!
Brilliant.
Rehearsal must have been a ton of work.

It's on TV right now. It's even more impressive the second time viewing it. Imagine making a mistake during a take. They'd have to setup the entire room again, poor junk on you, etc. D'oh! Can't find any info about it. Anyone find a link about who made it and what the shoot was like?
Anyone seen the Sugar Water video? It's a split screen, and one side is playing forward, and the onther is playing backwards... and then they meet up... kinda... it's really trippy. Michelle Gondry is awesome.
EDIT: This video is cool too.

It's done by the "Malloy"s, they are three brothers. I guess two of them have become filmmakers after trying a career in pro surfing, where they met Taylor Steele, THE MAN of surf films. Taylor has done music videos for the Blink182 when they were almost unknown and other bands, as well as for J.Johnson.
And Taylor has revolutionized the suf video industry, but that's another long story. If you want to know a little more, check out: www.poorspecimen.com

And David Lynch, of course.
And...well...I learned Tommy Roe's "Dizzy" backwards when I was a kid. Does that count?

Heh, check out the crew bios and the one for Dave Emge. Does that camera he's holding look familiar? :D

Yeah -- I found some behind the scenes shots of the DP perfecting his technique...
The dude asked me to host it on my site so he didn't get the thousands of hits this would take...
