whats the best windows file format to import into idvd?

I have a film i made using a windows. I want to import into idvd on a mac to make a dvd using idvd.... whats the best format I should render my short film to go into idvd?

If iDVD doesn't read .avi files you could always export a Quicktime file using the animation codec. You could also just export a DVD compliant mpg-2 file but I don't know if iDVD would recompress that anyway, going through two lossy compression steps.
