I didn't really know where to post this, so here goes:

Sony GV-HD700 HDV Video Walkman

This is an interesting gizmo. It only records SD, but plays HDV, DV and DVCAM in small casettes

I was thinking it could be handy for a remote cam recorder, field backup, or a bunch of other little chores....if just the monitor is good enough to use for field focus.

Has anyone used this and if so, how do you like it?

Thats alot of cash to drop for that... I'd get something a little less fancy.

I have used it and it works well. A large battery will last a long time on it. I think you could use it as an external monitor for focusing by it with the screen on your camera. I think it is a little overpriced though.
