I'm ready to purchace the PMW-EX1 and film in it's HQ 1920X1080 setting. at 25 Progressive.
Does the New Final Cut Studio 2 accept this format?
Will it mix HQ images with HD1440X1080 format?, is there an actual Progresive setting in the FCP capture settings or will it all be prossesed as Interlased.
As you can read my questions this will be the first time I need to shoot in Progressive and export to progressive.
Hope to receive someanswers,
Thanks
Hendrik

FCP supports natively 10 different flavours of XDCAM EX - 720p at 24, 25, 30, 50 & 60, 1080p at 24, 25 & 30, 1080i at 50 and 60.
I have tried a few of these with no problem (probably need reasonable spec Mac - a two core MacBook Pro is fine)
I should think that 1440X1080 footage will work fine. The main concerns probably arise with the interlacing of 1080i on a 720p timeline - there are probably solutions, but resizing interlaced footage seems to be a bit of a black art.
Note: you don't need to "capture" footage from the EX1, you essentially use the Sony software to copy the files off the camera and import them into FCP.

just remember,
Final Cut studio 2 will accept the new format but it has to have the most recent update
so it must be ver. 6.0.2
I have tried uploading EX1 footage into FCS 6.0 and I had issues..
just a little note

Thanks Matt
Did you try the HQ format 1920x1080?
We would film in this format with 25P settings.
I will be purchasing the new Mac power book with FCP studio 2 and I will be able to upgrade as you say.
Would it actualy make anny difference using the HQ format over the HD 1440x1080 ?
