Thoughts on this technique? Benefits/drawbacks? I've heard this mentioned and was wondering what people thought of this...

i'm of the opinion that the less work you have to do in post, the better. fiddle with the in camera settings until you have a look you like and then go with that. that way your changes in post won't be as drastic.

+15 will likely result in just throwing away dynamic range. If you like flatter contrast you can go + a few points, but IMO the only reason to go +15 is if you like that look and don't intend to do anything to the footage in post. You can get the +15 look in post and you won't have thrown away your dynamic range to do it.
