OK, so I wrote a bunch of documents on my MacBook Pro, and I moved them over to my Mac Tower desktop system. They are office 2008 .doc files. Anyway, when I open a file, change it, and go to save it, it tells me "this file is read only" and I have to save a copy. Problem is, there's like 20 documents, and I've had this sort of problem before.
I am pretty sure that this is a permissions problem, where I have read access to the files, but not write access. How can I change this for these files, and ANY files, that I bring over from my laptop in the future?
And, for a group of files, not just one file...?

Right click file;
Get Info;
down at the bottom, Ownership & Permissions, change to read and write

That's strange that it's coming up as read only.
Anyways, on the file, right click or control click > info and look for Ownership & Permissions, and there you can change it to read and write.
I'm not sure how to batch change it though, but it's pretty quick to change it.
EDIT: ah, some beat me to it...

oh sorry, I didn't clarify. Yes, I know how to do that. I meant for all 20... like a batch change. I can change them one at a time but that is a pain...

(BTW I already did it one at a time, but this happens a lot, and I'd like to know the right way for future reference)
I believe when there are more than a certain number of documents, If you select them all and do an apple I, you can change the option for that group of files in a single information window.

Anything over 10 items opens the multiple items info window (BTW - is there a way to use the "multiple items info window" when selecting 10 or less items?).
But it just says "you have mixed permissions"

Put them into a folder and do command i on that folder and I think it will affect the items inside.
