Hey folks,
Thanks to all of you who post info on this site. I have seen a lot of really great stuff. I have bought a DVX100a from a well known shop in NYC. They ship the camera 5 days after I ordered it after I told them that I needed it shipped right away. I mentioned to them that I am leaving this coming Friday and wanted a few days to learn the basics of the the camera. As it turns out I will get the camera the day before I head down the road which gives me about roughly 3 hours to get to know the camera. My previous experience is with a Canon ZR800, Super 8, and 16mm camera. I have never used a 3CCD camera before. My shoot is an outdoors motor sports event. Can I get myself up to speed enough to get decent images? Should I blow off the 1400 mile R/T? I might have a fellow DVX100 owner at the shoot. I have no idea of his knowledge or skill level. Should I just bring the manual with me and consider it OTJT? Based on the suggestions of many of you I got the AT 4073a.

Thanks to all of you. :Drogar-Dolar(DBG):

Best way to learn is to use it :) If this is a paid gig I wouldnt do it, but if its just for fun, go for it. You wont learn the entire camera in a few hours but if you are good with other cameras and understand f-stops, shutterspeeds and those basics, I say go for it. I'd just look up how to set the zebras, and frame rate and run with it. The manual is online somewhere, if you want to get a headstart.
