so I got my ex1 about 1 week ago....
I am a action sports filmer and took a chance of buying this camera over the HVX....
I was doubting my purchase at first, but then once I used this camera.....and dialed it in a little bit, this thing is the best peice of equipment I have ever used, in my opinion it looks just as if not more film like than the HVX but its more of a HD film like look to it, where as the HVX has that softer, granier film look to it...
not that I know anything about film but I cant stress enough how impressed i am by the footage coming out of the EX1

I currently dont have any editing software to edit my footage with....
so i cant put any samples up...
if anyone wants give me your email address and I will email over the raw footage from the EX1 through yousend it and you can put it through final cut and compressor into quicktime so we can see this baby up on the forums!

lol has there ever been a guy on this forum EVER - EVER

Who has said about annny cam that - "I have bought this new cam and you know what - its total crap, i hate it - what the hell was i thinking"

I appreciate the cuteness of these topics (and obviously theres loads of em' for every cam type) but is it just an excerice in psychological self pleasure?

Well...
Yes, there was...
A couple years ago, we had an order for two specific cameras, but cancelled the other after checking one out. The other was sold after one month of use.

Hmm.
Is it possible that some may actually do a LITTLE research before they buy something that cost almost $7,000.00. That may explain why you're not hearing,
man I'm an idiot I just spent $7K on a piece of crap!

Having said that, I guess we were the idiots a couple years ago! LOL

I can understand what Lawrie is saying, but I did do a lot of research and was about to buy an F350 XDCAM...for over $40,000. At first I didn't believe Sony could put out a comparable camera for only $7,000. I had been watching the evolution of the EX1 for 2 years and expected only a higher end Z1. Heck yes, it's amazing to see the fauning over the EX1...but consider...this is mostly a Panasonic HVX site, so to go for the Sony EX1 "here" is a breakthrough.
I truly think this is one of the best camera buys at this point in technology.

Would someone mind sending me some footage from the EX1? I'd love to see how it looks with certain shots and how it edits...

=) I do a lot of shots like... running and stuff... and I'd want to see if it's the right camera for me. I'm thinking of the EX1 or the HVX.

Here's an example of how I sometimes shoot.

Would the camera hold up with all that shakiness?

Thanks!
