This is a Final Cut Pro question as related to working with EX clips, so I'm wondering if any posters here might have an answer for me.
I'm working in FCP 6.0.2.
I'm in a situation where I've got 100 or so individual XDCAM clips recorded
by the SONY EX1 and turned into HD quicktimes via XDCAM Transfer. In XDCAM Transfer I just did IMPORT ALL CLIPS, rather than looking at individual clips because of a time factor.
In order to edit my package fast and not have to keep clicking each individual
HD video clip in the FCP browser to see what the content of that clip is, I'm creating a second FCP sequence, dropping all my video clips into it in one shot, and then dragging that sequence from the browser into the Viewer so I can deal with all the 100 clips as one long source that I can scan quickly to find what I need, like any other long video clip.
Problem is, the XDCAM EX1 clips have audio on all four channels. Although I've dropped the clips into a sequence with 4 audio tracks, when I drag that sequence into the Viewer, I end up with only two audio tracks in the Viewer and can't isolate the 4 audio tracks from the original clips as I need to target what's necessary into the package timeline (i.e. the talent's lavalier, ect.)
Everything is mixed into two channels.
Is there a way to do what I'm describing but retain all 4 audio tracks from
the original clips in the Viewer.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
