Hey,

Shot a film in the 1080 25p mode which becomes 50i when recorded to the P2 card.

The producer wants to put it to HDCAM as a final HD master (that's what the duplicating house said to do....as opposed to DVCPRO HD tape....)

Now when we export out of FCP as an uncompressed mov file to give them:

Should it be 1080/25p... or 1080/50i?

Cheers,
Tom

Two ways to do this:

How big is your project? Can it fit in 2x 8gb p2 cards? you can do a master print to video to the cards, bring your camera, and, trough a firewire cable, stream to a DVCPRO HD DECK (the post House should have) connected to HD-SDI to an HDCAM deck. THE DVCPRO HD deck would serve as a firewire to HD-SDI converter. The HDCAM would interpret the footage as 1080 25p.

Or you could select "No Fields"in your FCP 1080 25p sequence, then export a quicktime master.

If the Post House is using FCP to output trough HD-SDI to an HDCAM deck, make sure that it is receiving a 1080 25p stream (it says on the display of the deck)

These two where the processes we did on our international broadcast TVC's.

EDIT- We exported a quicktime dvcpro HD file, not uncompressed HD. Technical staff at the post house said there was no gain in the trasnfer by doing this vs going native codec.

EDIT AGAIN- If you have access to a P2 GEAR, you can probably skip the DVCPRO HD deck.
