Well i've finally decided that im sick of waiting for the 'next' hvx and i actually need one now, i've found myself with 2 options.

1 is a second hand kit, still not sure of what's in it as am waiting for the store to get back to me. All i know about it is its an ex-rental hvx with im guessing some 8 gig cards.

2nd option is to buy new, another one of my local stores currently has the camera at a very good price on special, I've spent thousands with this company over the past 3 years so they have said they are willing to cut me a deal. However it will be camera only and i'll have to pay normal RRP on cards.

I haven't got a price from either company, the first one only found out if i was interested this evening and the second one are still crunching numbers.

So prices aside, would you buy the second hand EX-Rental kit (that's probably been thrashed) or the new slightly more expensive camera only?

Also im not worried about accessories, i already own mics, lights and a tripod that will support the hvx.

If you have the money go new! That way you know what you are getting. And like you said the new camera it's at a shop you've dealt with over the years so if there are any issues you'll be well taken care of. The ex-rental may be in pristine, perfect condition. But, more than likely not.

Well got a quote back from my local shop. it was about $20 cheaper than the last quote i got from them Mid December. So im passing on that one, i can afford camera only, however not any cards, batteries, or a case.

Went and saw the ex rental one.

Physically its in perfect condition, comes with 2x 8 gig cards, 2 panasonic large batteries, and all stock accessories. no case.

They want $4000 usd for the kit.

Operation hours - 178
Tape Hours - 58

oh and it also comes with a full 1 year legit warrenty that panasonic will accept.

Is it worth it?
