here is a real quick sky replacement done in aboot 5 minutes. you can see alot of fringing and choppyness in the edges, but keep in mind, only 5 minutes.

I would like to see a reel. Do you have the capability of working with hi-end 2k stuff? Such as conformed output from a Red shoot? I'm thinking like a 2k DPX sequence. I assume you are using AE for fx/grading. Just the stock version or are you using Colorista?

A reel will be coming after this weekend if I can find some unused panny tapes to shoot and then throw some stuff together.

I know AE has the capability to work in 2K (the resolution at least, I'd have to make sure it supports DPX), but I am weary of it because I can not be sure that my comp will like it. I've been able to work with 1080p with no problems (except playback outside of AE due to GPU and CPU issues), but thats the highest I have gone. Also, the thing is 2K is way too big to transfer via interweb so I would need either a DVD with the files on them (a hassle to be sure and that's ALOT of DVDs) or on a firewire or ethernet (preferable cause its faster) port. That would be my preferance, and then I could get them back to you the same way.

Now, specifically, what would you need done? At the moment (and likely untill i work out a better workflow) 3d compositing is pretty hard for me to do, since I am still trying to find an app that will do everything inside itself. Most other stuff, like CC and 2d compositing I can do. I recently added in rain for a guy, actually he is on here his name is Huy Vu and you can see it in his next film Darkness, My Old Friend. I'll quit yacking and just get a reel done this weekend. I would love to give AE a test drive with RED footage though cause I am considering getting one as my next camera.

My setup is AE CS3 with Magic Bullet looks suite and some assorted plugins. I dont use colestra becasue I got MB LS for free (thanks panasonic!) I also use an older version of FXHome's Vision Lab Studio for gun play and particular FX (Ihate AE's particle systems except the ones such as CCRain or CCSnow).

I'll PM you when my reel is up and let you be the judge. If you could PM me with more details about your film, budget and what you are looking for that would be great.

Thanks,
Dory

My budget for crew is $0, this is for an internet competition after all, everyone volunteers. So if you are looking to get paid, best of luck. The shoot itself will have a minor budget, whatever is minimum needed for costumes and food on set. That said, we'll be shooting it on a tricked out Red package (~$40k) that can produce amazing footage. Plus full sound and grip package, etc.

Well it depends on what kind of FX you are looking for. I usually dont work for free, but for the fest i might if it isnt too complex. Cant always have champaign on a beer budget tho can ya? But still I'm verry interested. Money isnt everything, maybe we could trade something? Your RED for my CC? Jk. let me know.
