Good morning all,

I'm on a fact finding mission. We have had our HVX for a little over a year now and are starting to experience some problems with the zoom servo. We were doing a small shoot over the weekend and our DoP was having a real struggle getting the zooms nice and smooth. We normally use the Manfrotto rocker control mounted on the arm of the tripod to do the zooms, but we occasionally use the zoom control on the handle as it allows for the speed changes that are much more consistent. Recently however we have noticed that the servo is starting to stick. We are getting jumps or stickiness in the zoom. What I'm curious about (and what I could not find in search) was wether or not anyone else has had these problems. I am located in Clear Lake, Texas and would like to find a good service agent locally if anyone knows of one they could recommend.

thanks for any help,

Alex D'Eath

It could be sand. It's also an issue with some cameras that they have awkward zooming at the beginning of a mechanical zoom. Having a service center take the assembly apart will probably come in around $400 from what I've seen around here.

Is it present when you zoom manually?

It could also be a reaction of the servo motor if the zoom ring was manually operated in servo mode.
