Just want to know with $500, what's the best camera choice. Right now bestbuy is offering a 5% - 12% off (http://www.dealstudio.com/searchdeals.php?deal_id=87671&ru=282) sale on the cameras. But I just don't know what camera to get, any suggestions please.

I wouldn't get too excited about the "sale" at Best Buy. For example, the current "sale" price on a GS320 is $379.99, while B&H Photo's current price on the GS320 is $344.95.

It's a little tough to recommend a camera, without knowing at least a little about what you are looking for in a camera.

If you do some seaching you might be able to pick up a used HV20 for that price. Most likely it will be closer to the $600 range but it is worth checking on.

If format isn't a real issue, you can find Sony Hi8's pretty cheap. For the most part, they are a sturdy cam that gets a good image, even in low light.

There are quite a few nice SD cameras available nowadays, at low prices, used. I recently saw what looked to be a mint Sony TRV70 sell on eBay for just a little over $200. JVC GY-DV300Us (full blown prosumer 3-1/3" chipper) are typically selling for between $600-800 nowadays (a lot of camera for the money).
