Hey all. I've been capturing DV footage that I shot on my HVX, using 'DV NTSC 48Hz Anamorphic' in FCP. Somehow, though, after the capture, I get jagged lines all over the eges of, well, everything. It's hardly noticeable until I'm viewing it on a large monitor, and then, it doesn't showcase the image quality of the HVX at all.

I've tried every capture setting FCP offers, with the same results. I don't know what to do to make it better. Any ideas?

any chance of a screen grab?

How large is the monitor and what's it's resolution?

Sounds like your settings are correct if you shot squeeze mode... my feeling is your watching 480 footage on a 1080 monitor and thus the edges.

My computer monitor is 19" and the resolution is 1280x1024.

I shot in 24p in Squeeze Mode.

Also, here's a screencap of what I'm looking at -> http://pbc-productions.com/chad5/nappy03.png

I've circled exactly what I'm talking about -> http://pbc-productions.com/chad5/nappy03.jpg

The blurry / compressed look to my footage is just terrible. Has anyone had this problem before? Or, better question, what capture settings have you used when capturing footage from DV tape off of an HVX?

well, okay.

for one - youre displaying footage shot at (approx) 720x480 on a 1280x1024 monitor - OF COURSE ITS GONNA LOOK JAGGY!
for the love of Christ man!!! - if i were to stretch YOU 2x+ in scale you wouldnt hold up so well either.. ; )

basic math applies as does basic physics to the video world.
you cant paint a 500 sq ft room with 200 sq foot of paint - and expect it to look good!

Bear -- please don't double post. I know you want an answer... but double posting only confuses us all.
