you totally stole my idea, I was just going to set up a camera and film some waiting guy at a bus stop for 6 minutes (with a countdown to the bus's arrival in the corner of the screen).

It's gonna be something like that. Thought I'd go simple for my first project. Still learning what the little red button does....

If her film is as good as her photography (which is fantastic), this is going to be really nice to look at.

I got it figured out... what the little red button does... now... what are tapes? LOL
No seriously, I have played with the room-mate's DVX a bit, and I've helped with a couple of projects. Not sure I'm 100% ready for this, but got shoved in with both feet, so to speak. I aim to have a lot of fun in the effort at the very least. Hope me luck!
So now... what's all this "editing" people talk about...:2vrolijk_08:

Interesting... "Bus Stop" was intended as more of a working title... it may stick, it may not. The "original" Bus Stop looks interesting, I may have to go rent it. The little idea I had for my film somehow rocketed to full on entry before I could blink. Funny how these things happen sometimes. Casting call is going out today.... eek!

So you're a first timer too to the dvxfest? Awesome. I was starting to get lonely! :)

I've lurked a bit, been learning... Helped out a bit with one of the last fest-films... Gonna try it out now... How hard can it be really? Point, focus (most of the time) push red button, done! LOL Maybe I can jump up and down with the camera & make it look like the Bourne flicks. There, now I've added special effects!
All kidding aside, I was a bit terrified by the prospect of having my name on a film, but I'm beginning to get a little excited about it.
Have a great time with your film & good luck!

Only reason I felt compelled to post that link was because I designed a set for a final project in a theatre tech class that was intended for Bus Stop, the stage version. Got a 97% on it ;) good thing, too, otherwise I probably wouldve failed THAT class =D
working title or not... keep with this project!!!

A quick update... not a lot to report. Just about through getting the story finalized, should have it locked in by the end of the week. Got my location all picked out, I tossed a shot of it up in the top of the thread. Got my casting date set, and have a bunch of resumes to look through.
More later...

Man. oh man... isn't this the truth!
Welcome Paraheadache and good luck!
You got me cracking up at some of your posts there about the camera. Very funny.
Best to you... and make sure you take the little black plastic round thingy off of the front of the camera (opposite the little red button) before you start shooting (that's slang for operating the camera)!

Ted,
You know the best footage is obtained when you leave the little round thing on the end of the camera. Granted, it is a little dark, but you can fix it in post....

Thanks, I have really been enjoying my journey of learning to be a better photographer. You can tell some of my earlier work isn't as refined... but I think I get better all the time, and I'm having FUN! That's the important part right!?

I was going to ask if that was a lucky shot but I figured that you MUST have been set-up, focused and waiting for a lightning bolt to strike.
Really a great shot.

Latest update!!! er.... I got nuthin'...
I have my story finalized, I think. Might get a couple of tweaks, depending on the my ability to procure some items / people I'll need for the film.
Otherwise, I'm gearing up for casting next weekend. Yeah... kinda forgot it was Easter weekend.
Trying to keep things as simple as possible. I'm going to meet with my sound genius on Friday.
More soon...

No news is good news... at least in my world lately.
Sound Genius is off and running, casting is.... going.... I'm meeting with 5 more actors between now and Monday, so far, everyone has been on time and enthused about the project. Not getting quite what I'm looking for, but there are some distinct possibilities.
Story is gelled, things have been simplified. Today is all about getting set dimensions and working on timing it all out.
I'm hoping I'm not forgetting or lacking something major. Compared to other projects I've been involved in mine seems "too easy". Should I be more worried? :undecided
I'm sure when filming day comes I'll freak a bit... but till then... I'm all good.
Hope you guys are all having as much fun as I am though! Really... I am having fun. Casting shoved it into "real" for me. YAY!!!
