I know that there are a lot of experienced Steadicam ops on this site and I was wondering if anyone has info on the Flyer and its dynamic balance.
I usually operate with the bigger rigs like the MK-V and Ultra Cine with bigger film and HD cameras on board. The times I have flown smaller cameras with the smaller rigs I find that due to the light weight there was wobble and it is not as rock solid as I would like.
I am about to do a long term job shooting architecture, so keeping vertical and horizontal lines are essential. We are doing sweeping turns and pans to show off the architecture of these high profile resorts and hotels. They want to use my HVX. Does anyone have any links to any footage shot with a Flyer that can sway me into getting one??? If I had my choice I would shoot the whole thing with an Ultra and a Varicam, but that isn't in their budget.

If you're looking for assurance that the Flyer can perform the same as it's larger brothers, I assure you it can. It's up to you to get it to do so, however.

I've found dynamic balance can be achieved if the batteries are pointed at a very steep angle (not quite straight up & down, but close). This is generally speaking, however. Obviously each setup will be different.

Best of luck.
