I may be commissioned to record a prominent cellist in a concert this Saturday. I got the notice of it two days ago. The orchestra committee and the musicians union are voting on whether to allow recording tonight. I'll get an answer tomorrow morning.
If they vote to record, and there's a high probability, I wish to put the EX1 to the test in this concert, alongside my V1Us and Canon gear. However, as I was not through the 15 day tryout period with the camera, I had held off on buying SxS cards. The request to record this concert came up unexpectedly, so I'm pondering the idea of renting a couple of 16GB SxS cards for Saturday. That would enable the XDCam to cover the entire 85-minute concert, as opposed to one movement of the Dvorak Cello Concerto in B minor. That would force me to pick and choose which solo gets the four-camera treatment.
Since B&H can sometimes sit on an order for 3 days, I don't wish to purchase and hope that it gets here overnight. Rental might be a viable option. Any CT rental outfits that will actually rent one of these without renting the camera?
