This is for writers and, well... whoever. Maybe some stupid ideas, maybe some good ones, but I can bang these out all day... so if you have been stumped maybe you'll like one of these and you can adopt it... whether you're a writer or not. Doesn't matter.

1) Bottle of time-released capsules... the label is torn so that "time-release capsules" is the only part left to read. Taking pills "releases time"... or "gives you extra time when you need it"... possible script directions? Late for work... thinking bigger... able to interact within an unfolding disaster because time is moving slower for you.

2) Taken Anonymously.

3) The Book of Time. Each person's life gradually writes a page in the book of time, and once their story is finished (at whatever point on the page) they die, but a page has been torn out... so an angel must come here to find the missing soul, only to find that another angel has fallen in love with this person and wants their "story" to continue because that person does such beautiful things with their life. Possible script directions? Logan's Run style action as the angel (appears as a stranger) helps the person elude the other angel... could be dark and conflict driven, or romantic and philosophical about death and "your time to go".

4) Short and simple. A conversation with Einstein... his theories proven to work, Einstein happens to be visiting some point of interest (even could say a relative's house) to see how things were turning out... only the protagonist doesn't realize who he/she is talking to, through the short it is revealed who the man really is with some dialog to the effect of returning to 1936 when he's ready to die. Possible script directions? Einstein has been altering history unbeknownst to us... I don't know... I'm not in love with this one.

5) Living in the Past, Seeing in the Future. Have you ever seen a homeless guy... walking along appearing to be crazy? Talking and gesturing? Well maybe he walks that same route, and has the same daily routine, but his mind is exactly one day ahead... in the future. So he's being perceived as crazy while he's behaving sane for what he sees. Possible script directions? The guy saves somebody's life by running between a beautiful woman and gunfire, or whatever you like. "Cause of death unknown..."

6) Wrong Place - Wrong Time (also could be wrong place - right time or right place - wrong time)... a man uses a watch that is constantly 1 minute off... it will never hold the right time. The man is constantly annoyed by the watch's lack of ability to keep proper time... meanwhile he is missing constant disasters by 1 minute. Script directions? Guy fixes watch and meets his demise or possible comedic spin through Wrong Place - Right Time.

Well... that's a few that we kicked around anyway... if you're having trouble coming up with one and you like one of these ideas you may want to post that you're going to try it.

My first thought for TimeFEST was an IQ kind of flick. Love the scene where they discuss if time even exists. btw I still love Meg Ryan.

7) 24 but told through minutes instead of hours. The comedy could be in the direct interaction of people within the same minute. As in the hero is being instructed on how to handle new situations that are happening right behind him... or in the next 15 seconds... or whatever.

8) How about a 3 Story vignette? Some dramatic or disasterous event takes place at a particular time... for example (not this, but something like this)... the first world trade center impact... and how was the same period of time spent by 3 different people who ultimately interacted directly at the moment they all passed away. Like say a mother's morning with her children before school... a fireman's morning rituals of shaving (or regular morning stuff)... and perhaps a terrorist's morning of prayer and preparation)... meanwhile there's a timer in frame at all times regardless of which story we're focused on... maybe move the transparency a bit to make it tasteful... but it's counting down. The audience would realize what it's counting down to on the third vignette of the terrorist... guaranteed tear-jerker. They would need to cross paths either knowing or not-knowing, how they were related to the event.

9) Given to ConspiracyPenguin.

10) Given to Danstin Studios. Oh and I won't post the same idea back up again anyway... if you don't do it, don't worry. These things are like Doritos... crunch all you want.

More great ideas! If you don't mind I am going to take number 9 and write it. I probably won't use it for myself, but instead offer it to someone who wants it once it is done in a few days.

Thanks,

Good job Matt. You've got some pretty creative ones in there. You entering this time around?

That's the plan.

About the ideas; if anybody says they like one, let me know and I'll delete it. Best to reduce the chance of film to film "osmosis". There are always several entries that have similarities, and that's unavoidable when we're sharing a theme, but I think deleting the idea will help. Just please remember me if you successfully use the idea... I don't want anything for it, but I've always dreamed of being part of a writing team, so I'd like people to at least know who thought it up.

11) Dramatic visit from a man from the future! The future-boy must be really dramatic about the crazy future and what the world is heading to! By the end of the skit you find out that he's from 10 minutes into the future. Possible Directions? Comedy based on giant things that are going to change (so he says) and the other guy keeps thinking that he means like 20 years from now... but by the end he reveals that it's 10 minutes... Possible Variation? Friends, and the one friend doesn't recognize the other friend... the revelation that they know each other is something like, "but Scott has a beard, there's no way you could be him".... "Dammit! You're not listening to me! In the future I'm clean shaven!" I could see the guys that did 6" 45 doing something with this concept.

Hey Matt, this is great of you to share your story ideas here like this. If anything, whether a story has appeal or not, it certainly make the creative juices flow!

Really cool of you!

Thanks.

And thanks to everyone offering script assistance. Just gotta love this place!

I would love to do number 10. I would appreciate it if you wanted to delete it for me, and then in about 5 days if I'm not feeling it I'll let you know so you can put it back up here for someone. I'll definitely give you props, too.

13) Taken anonymously.

14) Expiration Date. This has a dozen possibilities... you could go dark comedy and literally make it a dating situation for a guy who's days are numbered... or it could be an item in the refrigerator that has seen light and darkness for way too long... that sour-cream and onion dip is finally going to unleash hell on your party.

15) Global vignette. While you're sleeping at 2am... it is some TIME through the clock, somewhere else on the world. Have you ever wondered what a significant time might be to somebody else? I wonder what's happening around Mecca at the same time that the Vatican is praising their view of God... and vice versa? OR... if you want it to be less "heavy"... just think of the world and how every minute of 24 hours is accounted for and unfolding on the planet... simultaneously. As you read this, this moment means something totally different to about what? 6 billion people? Pick 3 of them. Your child is watching the clock and can't wait for 3pm... meanwhile a kid in Brisbane is about to start the following day at 9am... simultaneously.

By the way... I'm not writing these down when I delete them... but if you want an idea and remember a keyword I'll get it back no problem... if I delete one and you forget the total idea then the odds are it's gone. This is just some impulsive crap that I type immediately into the reply box... nothing that I've been working on prior to the second I typed it. "Take me as you can, I think at the moment that I type"... (damn, I can't remember how that actually goes, but it was funny as hell back then... can somebody find that thread or tell me how that went?)

16) A bank robbery (or heist) is about timing. "There's a 2 minute window from when the day security guards switch over the laser system and make the drop, before the over-night security comes in..." Something like that... 'nuff said.

17) An alibi is all about timing. A planned crime with a solid alibi means perfect timing. "Where were you between 1:50am and 2:10am Mr. Johnson?"

18) "Take every 12 Hours"... this is one of the ideas that I was going to save for myself... A man is on medication for a schizophrenia, or mental disorder... his prescription says "Take every 24 Hours"... but the medication has a "low point" between doses. In this time when he is effectively un-medicated, his alter-peronality takes him out of the house/hospital (sneaks out as another persona, accepting his situation and working with it)... and on his forays into the real world he is a "super-hero" in action, not reality... his super-hero costume is something fashioned from what he has access to in his debilitated state. For this to be dramatic he doesn't have to do things that superman or batman would normally do... ordinary heroism, that appears anonymous, would be good enough for the story...
"Christopher got out of his room again... he's down in the waiting room telling the head nurse another one of his superman stories..." Meanwhile he was actually out of the building and just saved somebody's life...

19) "Idea number 19... Um... like... Adam Sandler goes back in time... and um... screws up the course of history by accidentally knocking Napoleon off a barstoool... and... uh..."

What?!?!? He milks me for all my ideas and then posts them here as his original material .. I can't believe this ... it's an outrage!

Ok, actually, none of that was true, I just couldn't put "dude your great" like everyone else :)
