Anyway she was eighteen and called me "Uncle Jack" and expected this sort of thing from me but, yes in fact, she did trust me. Her protests were not all that sincere. I don't think there's anything magic about it. Lord knows it isn't the quality of work that usually plops out at the end of the thread's gestation period (most will agree that this last entry was the first one to really impress anyone - mainly because we never have put enough time into making a damn movie).

It all started when Ted and I joined forces to make the film Threading The Needle for Drama Fest. We got Blaine and Tim involved then added TommyInLA and Bullis to the mix so that most of the same faces were involved then. That thread ended up with over 62,000 posts. My guess is that people have come to expect the kind of sophomoric humor, photoshop hi-jinks, hot babe pix and hot gossip that typified the TTN thread. Ever since we became FatMonster we aim to please our admittedly politically incorrect comrades here on DVXUSER.

Now that Ted's back on the forum and the usual suspects are pretty much back in form, if you see a FatMonster thread you can at least count on either being entertained or offended -- both preferable to boredom, hopefully.

Having said all of that, we do take this craft seriously (even when we DON'T have the time to devote to it). In fact, since this last fest, we have made a commitment to put in the hard work AND time. We admit up front that we finally learned to appreciate why Jack Daniel Stanley always consistently makes such good films -- its like that old E.F. Hutton commercial. He does it the old fashioned way -- hard work.

So, although we will almost certainly ALWAYS be putting up our dumb photoshop comic strips and probably having a few of our pictures censored by the mods, we also will try to occasionally share with everyone here what we're learning about making films. In the end, we hope that becomes the real reason people follow our threads and our work. We are the first to admit that we are humbled by all the great talent here and we want to give back some of what we've taken from this wonderful community.
