cropping an image/resolution loss

i shoot in 720P. I want to crop an image, taking away approximately 15-20% of the screen, but i still want to play it back in full 16:9. Will the resolution loss be noticable when the new, cropped image is re-sized to fit the 16:9 screen?

Well, of course it'll be softer; you're asking 580 pixels to do the same job that 720 would normally do. Might not be too bad, just try it and see.

On a 720 project--if there's a scene that I know I'm going to have to crop
(smoothcam, for example), I'll shoot that scene at 1080.

thanks. it's a dream sequence. so i may just get creative and work to stylize the areas where I want to crop and leave it at 720P. Im sure there are many ways to block the area in question
